Art Biotop 那須

アート・ビオトープ那須は、古くから避暑地として人気のある高原リゾート、栃木県・那須高原の木々に囲まれ小川が流れる静かな環境の中にあります。「陶芸」「ガラス」のスタジオ、宿泊室、炊事室、食堂といった機能を完備した施設です。

アート・ビオトープ小豆島は瀬戸内海で第2の大きさである香川県・小豆島の西端にあります。瀬戸内海に面し対岸に高松を臨み、世界的な芸術作品を身近に感じることができるところでもあります。小豆島で産出される花崗岩は、大坂城築城の際、その石垣に使用されて以来、日本有数の採石地となっています。さらに、2008年「オリーブ植栽100年」を迎えた、日本一のオリーブ産業があります。

これらの地の利を生かし、アート・ビオトープ那須の「アーティスト・イン・レジデンス（AIR）」プログラムは「陶芸」「ガラス」。アート・ビオトープ小豆島では「石材彫刻」「草木染め」のジャンルで活躍するアーティスト、研究者の創作活動を支援します。

各プログラム参加アーティストには、地域のさまざまな芸術体験を促すことを目的としワーク・ショップ、レクチャーなどを開催してもらいます。アーティストにとっては、アーティスト同士の刺激、交流の場であり、市民にとっては、感情豊かな芸術に触れられる場でありたいと願っています。
この場での出会いが、さまざまなエナジー、パワーとなって“新たな芸術”を生み出すことを想像すると楽しみでなりません。
Art Biotop NASU is located in the Nasu Highland in Tochigi prefecture, a traditionally popular summer resort The hotel is set in a quiet environment surrounded by woods, with a stream running nearby. Art Biotop NASU is fully equipped with ceramics and glass making studios, guest rooms, kitchens, and a dining hall.

Art Biotop Shodoshima sits on the western edge of the second largest island in the Seto Inland Sea, Shodoshima, Kagawa prefecture. It overlooks the Seto Inland Sea and Takamatsu on the opposite shore, and offers opportunities to see and experience world-class works of art at close quarters. Shodoshima has been one of the largest Granite producing regions in the country ever since it was mined to build stone walls of Osaka Castle. It is also known as the largest producer of olives in Japan and in 2008 marked the 100th anniversary since the introduction of the olive to the island.

Art Biotop is passionately committed to supporting artists and academics working with ceramics and glass-making in this unique, inspiring environment. Art Biotop Shodoshima runs a special residence programme for artists engaged in stone sculpture and herbal dying, and each participant promotes a range of artistic activities in the area including workshops and lectures.

We hope to provide an opportunity for artists to meet and get inspiration, and for citizens to gain rich cultural experiences.

We believe this energetic cultural exchange will lead to new streams of activity and innovative styles of art.
