アート・ビオトープ那須は、自然に囲まれた静かな環境で、カジュアルなステイをお楽しみいただけるホテルです。広大な敷地内には川が流れ、森が広がり、心ゆくまで那須の豊かな自然をお楽しみいただけます。陶芸スタジオ、ガラススタジオを併設し、ご希望の方はインストラクターの指導のもと、作品作りに挑戦していただくことも可能です。また、ご宿泊のみ、スタジオのみのご利用も可能です。

アート・ビオトープの考え方

ビオトープとは、ドイツ語で「（生物群の）生息地」を意味する言葉です。地域に自然の植生を増やし、虫や小動物といった生物を呼び込んで小さな生態系を築く。戦後の経済発展で豊かな自然を荒廃させてしまった反省から生まれた、エコロジー運動の一環でした。

その背後には、自然を芸術の源泉として讃えてきたドイツ・ロマン派の伝統が脈々と息づき、失われた自然と自らの文化的肉体を取り戻そうという、文化復興の意志が込められています。
アート・ビオトープはその背景を受け継ぎ、「未来のアートのための苗床」として誕生しました。豊かな自然に囲まれた創作のための環境（ビオトープ）で、人々が集い、アートの種子を育てていってほしい。アート・ビオトープにはそんな思いが込められています。「アート・ビオトープ」という場がさまざまな意味でこれからの日本の芸術、文化の発展への半歩にでもなればと願っています。

Art Biotop NASU is a quiet hotel surrounded by nature where guests can enjoy a casual holiday. Our vast grounds are set in forest by a river where you can relish Nasu’s rich nature and culture to your heart’s content. We also have ceramics and glass studios where guests can try their hand at creating works of art with the help of our instructors.

Art Biotop’s Philosophy

Biotop means a “biome” or “habitat” in German. It is also the name of an ecological movement to re-establish a regional ecosystem by reviving vegetation and reintroducing insects and small animals. Behind this lies a long- tradition of German Romanticism which celebrates nature as a source of art. Its roots come from a desire to forge a cultural renaissance by restoring lost natural habitats and cultural strength.

As part of our philosophy, we aim to bring nature back to an area where   habitats were destroyed during the post-war period of economic growth.

Art Biotop was born as a “nursery for future art” and we gave this name to our hotel   in the hope that people would gather in this wonderful environment surrounded by undisturbed nature, perfect for gaining artistic inspiration and cultivating the seeds of art. We want Art Biotop to make a contribution, however small, to the development of Japan’s art and culture.
